Applications for the 2018 Summer Leadership Program are now closed. Please check back here next summer for information on how to apply!
The Summer Leadership Program (SLP), started in 1995, provides Boston-area teenagers with a powerful and diverse summer of community building, self discovery, leadership skills, action projects, and challenging seminars to transform themselves into powerful voices for change.
The Summer Leadership Program works with high school aged students from Boston’s diverse neighborhoods, surrounding communities, and outlying suburbs. Participating youth come from high schools including Brookline High, Needham High, Newton North & South, Somerville High, Boston Latin Academy, The Commonwealth School, Beaver Country Day School, Cambridge School of Weston, Trinity Academy, South Boston High, English High, Newman Prep, Brighton High, Boston Arts Academy, The Winsor School, Arlington High, Lexington High and many others.
Once accepted into the Summer Leadership Program, students participate in a three-day, two-night retreat in order to explore common bonds and build a sense of community. Then we launch into six and a half weeks of intensive seminar learning, service work, and community action projects.
The 2018 Summer Leadership Program will kick off with a 3 day, 2 night retreat from July 5th through July 7th. The regular program will run from July 9th through August 17th.
What is a social justice summer leadership program anyway? Read a blog post from one alumni about what he’s been able to do after his summer experience.
